What Toddlers Can Teach You About Business
How do we get past the ceilings and the limitations that stop us from succeeding and reaching our goals?
By recognizing that it’s nobody but ourselves who put those ceilings in place, and that we have the power to remove them.
WHEN DID YOUR REACTION TO FAILURE CHANGE?
Think about a time when you experienced extreme failure. Did you keep trying until you eventually succeeded, or did you give up and decide it’s not worth it?
Most people give up. They say, “forget it, I can’t do it.” They say, “I’m stupid,” or, “I’m too dumb,” or “I’ve failed at the same thing too many times over and over.”
But if we had that attitude at 4 months old when we were learning to walk, we’d all be in wheelchairs today.
TURN FAILURE INTO A LEARNING EXPERIENCE
When you were a toddler, you didn’t give up when you failed. You kept going.
When did that attitude change? When was the first time you failed or had a bad experience, and you let that failure drive the rest of your life, instead of choosing to keep trying like your younger self would have?
There’s no reason you can’t change that attitude back again. Treat your failures as learning experiences that help you improve.
All successful business owners and entrepreneurs react to failure in the same way as a toddler learning to walk. They get back up, don’t let it affect them and they keep trying until they get there.
